If you've never used an herbal tincture before, this is the page to read first.

Starting a tincture practice

A tincture is an alcohol extract of a plant. The alcohol pulls compounds out of the plant material that water wouldn't reach. The result is a concentrated liquid that you take by the drop.

How to take one

Most of our tinctures are dosed in drops, not droppers. A standard dropper holds about thirty drops. Five to ten drops at a time, two or three times a day, is a typical adult dose.

You can take it directly on the tongue or in a small glass of water. On the tongue is faster — the formula starts working before you swallow. In water is gentler, especially with bitter formulas.

Storage

Out of direct sunlight, somewhere cool. A drawer in the kitchen is fine. The brandy base will preserve the formula for years — most of our tinctures are still potent at five years.
